Meet your Fairy MahjMother

Hi! I'm Marley - your local Fairy MahjMother, and I'm here to spread the FUN of American-style Mahjong. Just as a fairy godmother appears in times of distress, I bring the support, guidance, and magic needed to turn a complex game into a lifelong passion.

It's a family affair

I was taught how to play mahjong by my mother, who was taught by her own mother before that. When my family gets together, all the aunts and cousins will sit and play for hours - chatting, laughing, sometimes cursing, and always snacking. It is SO much fun. The only problem? My family lives far away, which means we don't get to play as often as I'd like.

Sharing the Magic

I knew that if I wanted to play more, I would have to teach my friends that live nearby. Mahjong is daunting for beginners! I remember that well. So I knew that if I wanted my friends to WANT to play with me, I had to teach it in a way that was clear, approachable and enjoyable. I've been teaching the game for over 10 years now, with a teaching style that is supportive, encouraging and FUN! My favorite part of teaching is watching others light up as they start to get it. Lessons always end with people asking to play again as soon as possible!
